Wildfires pose a significant risk to homes and properties. There are measures you can take to better protect your home in the event of a nearby wildfire:
- Keep gutters, porches, and decks clear of leaves and other flammable debris.
- Replace mulch and vegetation within 5 feet of your home with non-flammable materials such as stone.
- Remove tree branches within 10 feet of your house, roof, or chimney.
- Install 1/8-inch metal mesh screens over the foundation and attic vents.
- Store firewood, propane tanks, and lawnmowers at least 30 feet away from your home's foundation.
- Learn what it means to get "Ready, Set, and Go" when a wildfire is threatening your area on the Prepare page.
