Safe drinking water is important to us all. Under the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has established monitoring, testing, and notification requirements of public water systems. The monitoring and testing collect data and watch for unregulated contaminants. Every 5 years, the EPA updates the list of contaminants that must be monitored.
According to the 5th and most recent EPA list of unregulated contaminants, monitoring is required for 29 per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS and PFOS) and Lithium. These are contaminants that might be present in drinking water across the country but do not have health-based standards set for regulation.
According to the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule, Canby Utility has completed the required quarterly testing using the analytical methods developed by the EPA. All samples were below detectable limits for the monitored contaminants.
