Earlier this year, we asked Canby Utility (CU) customers to take a survey about the future of Canby's drinking water. You may have seen our staff at community events or local businesses recruiting people to take the survey, or received a postcard in the mail. More than 320 community members completed the survey, sharing priorities on water quality, reliability, affordability, and the investments needed to meet Canby's future water needs. If you took the time to respond, thank you. Your feedback is helping shape the future of the Canby Water Supply Program (CWSP).
In the survey, we heard that having access to reliable, year-round drinking water is our community's highest priority. Community members also prioritized improvements to the water's taste and odor, and CU's efforts to make sure the system has enough capacity to serve Canby for decades to come. Our customers are also thinking carefully about cost. Most respondents wanted to balance affordability with long-term investments that still provide lasting benefits.
As members of the CU Board evaluate options for the future of Canby's drinking water system, they are carefully considering the most effective ways to balance affordability while providing a safe, reliable, and resilient water supply for future generations. The Board has asked our engineer to evaluate cost-saving alternatives that will result in the best value over the lifecycle of the improvements.
